Concerning reduction of SC Normal Tolls for Passenger and Cruise Vessels transitting the Suez Canal for calling on Egyptian and Non-Egyptian Ports at the Red Sea
.

To motivate the transit of Passenger and cruise vessels through the Suez Canal and promote tourism in Red Sea area in Egypt. The Suez Canal Authority
announces a rebate in SC normal tolls for these types of vessels as follows:

1. For vessels calling only on Egyptian ports at Red Sea, the SC Cir. 2/93 shall be applied.

2. Vessels calling on non-Egyptian ports as well as Egyptian ports at the Red Sea shall be entitled to rebate on their SC normal tolls for their round trips as follows:

Where:

X = Vessels number of hours that the vessel stayed at Egyptian ports only at the Red Sea plus duration time of her trips among those ports.
Y = Total hours of the vessel's whole trip in Red Sea.*

The vessel applying for such rebate shall comply with the following:

a) The vessel shall pay full SC transit rolls at Port-Said prior to her southbound trip.

b) For her northbound trip, the vessel shall pay SC normal tolls after deducting the amount of the aforementioned equation multiplied by 2. The rebate shall be granted to the vessel provided that she complies with the following:

1. Master/Agent of the vessel shall forward a detailed itinerary of the vessel. The itinerary shall state number of hours stayed by the vessel at each of the Egyptian ports as well as time of her sea trips among those ports only. (Time of trips to non-Egyptian ports is excluded). The itinerary shall be approved by the Ministry of Tourism or Misr Travel Co.

2. Approved documents by Port Authorities of the ports visited by the vessel should be forwarded as well.

The documents shall state that vessel's trip which started on ... (Date of entry of the Canal from Port Said) and completed at the port of .. has been solely made for tourism and the vessel has not made any commercial activities (such as loading/unloading of goods). Forwarding the documents before Suez to Port Said is advisable.

c) If the vessel is unable to submit the documents in her return trip (Northbound) SC full normal tolls shall be levied. The release of rebate package for her two trips shall be made once the vessel forwards the documents in a period not exceeding three months from the date of northbound transit.

*The time starts from the vessel's departure from Suez Port till her return back to Suez again.

d) The vessel shall not be subject to any rebate if her time spent at Egyptian ports + her time of sea trip among these ports is less than 70% of the total hours she spent in the whole red Sea trips. *

e) The circular comes into force as from 13 May 1994.
