Baltic Sea activity remained closely monitored during the reporting
period, with six security-related events recorded between 9 and 22
September. The period included continued maritime surveillance,
shadow-fleet monitoring and a Finnish exercise focused on subsea
infrastructure protection. No confirmed physical damage to
merchant vessels or port infrastructure was reported.
Several Baltic states continued routine monitoring of vessels of
interest. Russia-flagged vessels were observed and monitored by
Latvian and Estonian authorities during transit, reflecting the
continued focus on maritime awareness and safe navigation in the
region.
On 14 September, a Ukrainian UAV was recovered on the Polish
coastline near Rusinów. Ambrey assessed it as likely being a
Ukrainian Banshee-type UAV, highlighting the continued
importance of monitoring developments around Russian Baltic
infrastructure and nearby maritime areas.
A notable interaction took place south of Gedser, where a Russian
Navy frigate deployed flares during an encounter with a Danish Air
Force helicopter conducting routine surveillance. The incident was
contained, with no reported impact on commercial shipping.
In the Gulf of Finland, Finnish authorities conducted an exercise
focused on subsea infrastructure protection and coordination
between relevant maritime and defence authorities. Such exercises
form part of the region's continued focus on maintaining maritime
resilience and preparedness.
Overall, Baltic maritime activity remains operational, with
authorities across the region maintaining a high level of situational
awareness. Ambrey continues to monitor developments affecting
shipping and trade routes, including activity around Russian Baltic
ports and increased surveillance of vessels of interest.
For vessels operating in the Baltic and Danish Straits, continued
awareness of local developments remains important, while no
disruption to commercial shipping was reported during this period. YOUR PREFERRED AGENT IN MARITIME HOTSPOTS

We recently welcomed students from the International
Shipping and Trade bachelor at CBS to our Copenhagen office
for a closer look at life at Leth and the work of a shipping agent.
The morning gave the students an introduction to Leth Danish
Straits and an insight into the role we play in supporting vessels
and clients navigating the Danish Straits. For the 2nd year
students in particular, the visit was an opportunity to learn more
about the industry as they begin looking towards their
upcoming internships.
The visit also offered a glimpse into another part of everyday life
at Leth. The students joined our regular Tuesday training
session, taking part in a CrossFit workout together with our
trainers from TwinSpirit. Weekly training is part of our routine in
Copenhagen and reflects the importance we place on bringing
colleagues together outside of the day-to-day operations.
Leth has worked closely with CBS and the International
Shipping and Trade bachelor for many years. Several former
CBS students have completed their internships with us and
gone on to build their careers within international shipping.
Maintaining this connection with the next generation of
maritime professionals remains an important part of our
relationship with CBS.
The morning ended with drinks and snacks in the courtyard,
giving students and colleagues time to continue the
conversations and get to know each other.
For a glimpse of the day, we've put together a short video of
the visit which you can see below.
